YOU CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU WHEN YOU GO
Instead of amassing worthless possessions in this age, we should rather use our money to do Good Works that have value in the age to come.
MONEY MONDAY
But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God – Luke 12:20-21
Many are busy amassing material possessions as if they will take them along with them when they die. 1 Timothy 6:7 says, ‘For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.’ That’s very true.
They’re busy collecting sneakers, handbags and toys that will perish in this age. Their money goes towards expensive clothes, cars, watches, perfume and other items that have no Eternal value whatsoever. As Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, we’re called to live differently.
Instead of amassing worthless possessions in this age, we should rather use our money to do Good Works that have value in the age to come. We should rather sell what we don’t really need and give the proceeds to the poor as the Lord instructed us. That’s what it means to be rich towards God. Amen.
PRAYER
Father in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, help me not to amass possessions I don’t really need. Help me to be rich towards you by sharing what I have with the needy. Amen.
