TRUE PROPHETS AND THE COUNSEL OF THE LORD

I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. But if they had stood in my counsel, and hand caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings – Jeremiah 23:21-22

The difference between true prophets and false prophets is the counsel of the Lord. True prophets spend time with the Lord and He shares His secrets with them. The word of the Lord is with them. False prophets just speak presumptuously.

The counsel of the Lord is always to turn His people from their evil ways, that’s why when you’ve heard a true prophet, you’ll want to repent of your sin and seek God. False prophets stitch verses together and spin a revelation that tickles the itching ears of their hearers. God did not send them.

The Lord Jesus Christ warned us that in the last days, false prophets would arise and deceive many. That’s what’s happening right now. There are false prophets everywhere. Pray and ask God to lead you to a trustworthy prophetic voice, and when you find one, keep them close because we live in perilous times.

PRAYER

Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, open my eyes to your truth. Lead me to a trustworthy prophetic voice to lead me during these perilous times. Amen.
