FAMILY FRIDAY

And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord – Ephesians 6:4

Many human cultures don’t associate child rearing with men. As a result, we have a lot of absent fathers in many societies. They have children but leave them to the woman or the grandparents to raise. This is wrong.

According to the Doctrine of Christ taught by the Apostles, fathers must both reprimand and nurture their children. In other words, they must raise them. This is a God-given responsibility that fathers should not pass to others. Most single mothers are trying to raise their children and failing because most of what they’re trying to do can only be done by the child’s father.

Impregnating a woman doesn’t make one a father. Sending maintenance money to provide for the child doesn’t make one a father. It’s your constant presence, day in day out, month after month and year after year of consistent nurturing and reprimanding, over and over again that makes one a father. Do for your kids what your Heavenly Father has done for you, be present.

PRAYER

Father in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I pray for fathers to start taking responsibility and raising their own children. May they learn from you and be present to reprimand and nurture their children. Amen.
