And the prayer of faith shall save the sick…Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit – James 5:15,17-18

Bishop James gives Elijah the Prophet as an example of one who prayed the Prayer of Faith. Very often we’re told that the Prayer of Faith means to pray once and believe that you’ve received from God. But that’s not how Prophet Elijah prayed.

1 Kings 18:44 says, ‘And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain stop thee not.’ The Prophet Elijah prayed not once, not twice but seven times for the same thing and Bishop James calls it the Prayer of Faith. The Prayer of Faith is actually the opposite of what many have been taught.

Matthew 26:44 says, ‘And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.’ The Lord Himself prayed more than once for the same thing, using the same Words. That’s how the Author and Perfecter of our Faith prayed. Luke 11:9 says, ‘So I say to you, Ask and keep on asking and it shall be given you; seek and keep on seeking and you shall find; knock and keep on knocking and the door shall be opened to you.’ That’s the Prayer of Faith. That’s the Doctrine of Christ.

PRAYER

Father in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I thank You for the privilege of Prayer. I thank You that You that I can pray the Prayer of Faith knowing You will answer it. Amen.
