THE LORD JESUS CHRIST PRAYED

And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples – Luke 11:1

As disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ we should desire to be like Him in every way. But if there’s one aspect of His life we should desire more than any other it’s His prayer life. That’s because His prayer life is the source of His powerful life and ministry.

Even though they saw the Master teach, preach, cast out devils, heal the sick and raise the dead; the disciples didn’t ask Him to teach them how to do any of that. Rather, they asked Him to teach them how to pray because they could tell that was the one thing very different about Him. They therefore concluded that His prayer life must be responsible for His holy life and powerful ministry.

Our generation of the church wants the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ without His prayer life. A prayerless Christian is a sinful powerless Christian. A prayerless church is a sinful powerless church. Following the Lord’s example, the early church was very prayerful, and as a result, they lived holy lives and had a very powerful ministry. Church, it’s time to pray.

PRAYER

Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I ask for the prayer life of the Lord Jesus Christ. Help me to pray like the Master prayed so that I may live the sinless life He lived and have the powerful ministry He had. Amen.
