MONEY MONDAY

And Jesus lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God – Luke 6:20

The prosperity gospel claims that no matter how poor you are, because you’re the seed of Abraham, the Lord Jesus Christ will make you rich in silver, gold and livestock as Abraham was. But the Lord Jesus Christ never promised the poor money. That’s because the promise is not money but the kingdom to come.

Romans 14:17 says, ‘For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. The kingdom of God is not about the material things of this life. It’s not about cars and houses and the like, but about true riches such as righteousness, peace and joy.

Having said that, it doesn’t mean that God wants us to live in lack. Luke 12:31 says, ‘But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.’ When we focus on the kingdom of God, God meets all our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. He doesn’t necessarily make us millionaires and billionaires, but He makes sure that we have what we need by giving us this day our daily bread.

PRAYER

Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, give us this day our daily bread. Meet all our needs according to your riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Amen.
