THE CHARACTER OF GOD
God will judge not only in the end but in this life as well.
Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation – Exodus 34:7
There’s no such thing as the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament. God doesn’t change. He’s kind, merciful, gracious and very forgiving. However, He’s also just, therefore, He judges sin.
God will judge not only in the end but in this life as well. That’s why in Acts Ananias, Sapphira and Herod were judged in this age. And we’re now seeing the same God today allow judgment through calamity because humanity has strayed from His righteousness.
God is visiting the sins of today through pestilence, the sword and famine as He did in the past. He does that to get our attention so that we may repent. Our generation has forgotten about God, it’s time to repent and receive forgiveness through the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
PRAYER
Father in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, help us to accept both your mercy and judgment. May our generation fear you and give you glory by turning from their wicked ways. Amen.
