RESTRAIN YOUR CHILDREN

Many parents don’t discipline their children because they don’t want them to hate them.

FAMILY FRIDAY

For I have told him (Eli) that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not – 1 Samuel 3:13

Many parents don’t discipline their children because they don’t want them to hate them. They therefore turn a blind eye on their children’s disobedience. Eli the priest failed to restrain his sons when they abused their priestly office and became a menace to Israel.

God therefore judged Eli. As a result, his sons became a curse to themselves, Eli and to their entire family. Eli paid a heavy price. Both his sons died in one day, Eli fell and died when he heard the news, and God ensured that none of his descendants would ever become priests and many would die young.

There’s a price to pay for not disciplining your children. Like Eli’s sons, these children will end up becoming a curse to themselves, their parents and society at large. In the end, God will not only judge the children for their own sins but He’ll also judge the parents for unleashing such evil onto the world. Parents, restrain your children, or like Eli, you’ll pay a very dear price.

PRAYER

Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, may parents restrain their children and train them in the way that they should go so that when they are older they will not depart from it. Amen.
