REPENT, FOR THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS NEAR

And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people – Luke 24:19

The Lord Jesus Christ is the only major prophet in the scriptures. He’s the prophet of prophets with a true prophetic ministry. And what was the first thing He said when He opened His mouth? ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.’ The Lord Jesus Christ is our example, we should therefore follow Him.

Even though He healed the sick, cleansed the leper, raised the dead, cast out devils and prophesied – the Lord Jesus Christ’s message wasn’t healing, deliverance or prophecy – He preached the kingdom to come and called men and women to repentance, otherwise they’d have to face God’s wrath on the day of judgment.

Today’s prophetic ministries don’t call others to repentance. They draw away disciples after themselves and become cult figures. True prophets, like our major prophet, the Lord Jesus Christ, confront sin and tell their hearers, ‘Repent or perish.’ Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near. Glory to God!

PRAYER

Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I pray for ministers of the gospel all over the world. May they repent of the fear of man and start preaching the true gospel. May whole churches repent as a result because the kingdom is near. Amen.
