PRAY THAT YOU ENTER NOT INTO TEMPTATION
Most Christians don’t know how to deal with temptation.
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak – Matthew 26:41
Most Christians don’t know how to deal with temptation. Very often, because of their erroneous hyper-grace theology, they just yield to it and sin habitually because they don’t consider it wrong. Some have been taught to confess their righteousness when they sin but, of course, it never works because, like hyper-grace theology, it’s a false doctrine.
The Lord Jesus Christ teaches us that for us not to enter into temptation, we must watch and pray. That’s the Doctrine of Christ. As Christians, we’re targets of satan’s attacks through diverse temptations. To overcome these temptations, we don’t find solace in hyper-grace falsehoods or confess our righteousness, we ward off these attacks in prayer.
Our spirit is willing to obey God because it’s born again, however, our flesh, which is our soul and body, is yet to be regenerated. It’s therefore weak, hence the need to pray. Satan is a spirit and he attacks our flesh spiritually, which is absolutely unfair. Our flesh cannot win spiritual battles, only our spirit can. When we pray, our spirit gains the necessary strength which it imparts to our flesh to withstand spiritual attacks. Glory to God!
PRAYER
Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, help me to always pray and never to faint. Lead me not into temptation but deliver me from evil. Amen.
