PERSECUTION – MOZAMBIQUE JIHADIST ATTACKS
This is not good at all. We need to pray against this.
Glory to God! I trust you’re well and denying yourself, taking up your cross and following the Lord Jesus Christ.
This week we’ve been talking about persecution and how the gospel we’re currently hearing is not preparing us for its eventuality.
Those of us in the southern African region, like many in the West, often think persecution is something that happens to other people. We think it’ll never happen to us.
Of late, Mozambique, a SADC and neighbouring country, has been suffering jihadist attacks from Islamic militias. Recently, they burned down a Church, a secondary school, shops, a district hospital, dozens of cars, and displaced about 300 families. They also freed convicted criminals from a local prison.
Once done, they hoisted black Islamic State flags. That’s ISIS folks. That means ISIS is right on our doorstep.
ISIS have issued a warning to South Africa not to get involved militarily in Mozambique, otherwise they’ll launch attacks inside South Africa. You’ll recall that when Kenya came to Somalia’s rescue against El Shabaab, Kenya experienced numerous terrorist attacks where thousands of people died.
You’ll probably recall how El Shabaab attacked and killed shoppers at Westage Mall in Nairobi, or even when they attacked a college in the town of Garissa and killed about 150 people, most of them students.
According to sources, some of the jihadists operating in Mozambique are South Africans. There have also been reports of ISIS sleeper cells in South Africa.
This is not good at all. We need to pray against this. We also need to pray for our brothers and sisters around the globe who’re suffering persecution at the hand of jihadist terror groups, Islamic governments and Marxist leaders.
