OBEY CHRIST FIRST
It’s important that we obey our parents, but only if it’s in the Lord. If what they command us to do is against the Doctrine of our Lord Jesus Christ, then we’re not obligated to obey them.
FAMILY FRIDAY
Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right – Ephesians 6:1
It’s important that we obey our parents, but only if it’s in the Lord. If what they command us to do is against the Doctrine of our Lord Jesus Christ, then we’re not obligated to obey them.
Parents who’re in the Lord must be obeyed without question. However, parents who’re still steeped in pagan rituals, occultic practices or criminal activity must not be obeyed since their instructions are contrary to the Doctrine of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Sacrificing to ancestors, consulting the dead through mediums, ritual circumcision and crime are not in the Lord. Those are doctrines of demons and commandments of men. We must obey our parents if, and only if, their instructions are in line with the wholesome Doctrine of our Lord Jesus Christ.
CONFESSION
I obey my parents, but only in as far as they agree with the Doctrine of Christ. The Lord commands that I choose Him ahead of my parents, otherwise I’m not worthy of Him.
