MERCY AND JUDGMENT
Without the mercy of God, we would never love Him. Without the fear of God, we would never obey Him
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love – 1 John 4:8
God is love. That’s why He judges sin. If God didn’t pursue justice for the widow, the orphan, the poor and the oppressed, He wouldn’t be love. It’s precisely that, He’s love, and He’s also a Judge. His judgment is the expression of His love and kindness towards the disenfranchised.
If God was all mercy and no judgment, we would take advantage of Him and live life without consequences. If God was all judgment and no mercy we would become hopeless. We therefore need to know both His mercy and judgment
Without the mercy of God, we would never love Him. Without the fear of God, we would never obey Him. We need both His mercy and judgment in our lives for us to obey His commandments out of love. By understanding just how balanced God is, helps us live balanced healthy Christian lives.
PRAYER
Father in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I thank You for both your mercy and your judgment. That’s why I obey you out of love. Amen.
