LEARN TO BE FRUGAL
To be frugal means to be thrifty, it means to be wise with your money.
MONEY MONDAY
And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full – Matthew 14:20
After the Lord Jesus Christ multiplied five loaves and two fish, He fed about five thousand, not counting women and children. After everyone ate, there were leftovers, fragments. The disciples collected these fragments and put them in baskets.
This is instructive. It goes to show that the Lord Jesus Christ is not wasteful. Even though He could multiply more loaves and fish, He however didn’t take what He had already done for granted. In fact, it goes to show that the Lord Jesus Christ was not wasteful but frugal.
To be frugal means to be thrifty, it means to be wise with your money. It means to be economical and not to live beyond your means. The prosperity gospel encourages overspending. When we preach frugality, they accuse us of not having enough faith. Even though God provides for us, it doesn’t mean we should blow our money on luxuries. Saving and investing our money is not a sign of unbelief but prudence and wisdom.
PRAYER
Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, help me not to be wasteful with what you bless me with. Help me to be frugal and spend my money with prudence and wisdom. Amen.
