Pride leads to arguments; be humble, take advice, and become wise – Proverbs 13:10

Many families are broken today because of arguments. There’s something they couldn’t agree on, as a result, they argued until the only way to find peace was to divorce. At the root of it all is not so much their bone of contention but rather pride. Pride always leads to so-called irreconcilable differences. Pride always leads to strife and strife is an evil spirit that has destroyed many families.

James 3:16 says, ‘For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.’ When families allow strife to fester, anything is possible, anything can happen. All kinds of evil can manifest. That’s why the only solution to lasting family peace is humility. We have to deny ourselves the right to retaliate and leave vengeance to God. Instead of overcoming evil with evil, we have to overcome evil with good.

We have to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily and follow the Lord Jesus Christ. We have to forgive others their sins because God has given us ours. We have to have faith in God and pray, trusting in God, for whom all things are possible, to restore our families. Let’s remove strife from our families and believe God for lasting peace.

PRAYER

Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I pray for peace in my family. Intervene in our lives, cause us to walk in humility. Help us not to take revenge. May we settle our differences and cast the spirit of strife out of our families. Amen.
