FIRST COMMANDMENT WITH PROMISE

FAMILY FRIDAY

Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise: That it may be well with thee and thou mayest live long on the earth – Ephesians 6:1-2

There are many Commandments of God that carry a promise, honouring our parents is only the first. When we honour and obey our parents, we’re blessed. Things go well with us and we enjoy long life. When we don’t, we curse our lives.

Many are stuck, things are not going well for them. Some even die young. What’s their problem? Disobeying and dishonouring their parents. They think that just because we’re not under the Law, disobeying God’s Commandments doesn’t have any consequences anymore. But it clearly does.

Perhaps you have difficult parents, but because we’re under Grace, God gives us the ability to obey and honour our parents. We don’t do it in our own strength. With the Help of the Spirit, we can do all things through Christ who gives us the strength to obey and honour even the most insufferable of parents. Amen!

PRAYER

Father in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I thank You for the Grace to obey and honour my parents. I thank You that when I honour and obey them by Your Spirit, things go well with me and you bless me with long life. Amen.
