FASTING AND PRAYING
Prayer is an expression of our faith in God and not our finite human abilities
And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting – Mark 9:29
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man makes much power available. That’s why it’s so important for us to pray. But do you know what’s better than praying? Fasting and praying! There are things that require only prayer but others, because of their nature, require fasting and praying. Fasting and praying makes even more power available compared to just prayer by itself.
Prayer is an expression of our faith in God and not our finite human abilities. It’s a means of seeking God’s intervention in our circumstances. But prayer coupled with fasting is an even deeper expression of us having faith in God. Fasting shows commitment. There are things in our lives God will not even look at until we fast and pray. There are problems in our lives God will never touch until we fast and pray. There are habits God will never break until we fast and pray. There are devils we cannot rebuke and as a result will never leave you until we show commitment through fasting and praying.
This one comes out by fasting and praying. Perhaps you’ve tried everything. Perhaps you’ve prayed. Perhaps you’ve even been prayed for. What you need now is to fast and pray. Have faith in God. Fasting and praying shows that we have faith in God. It shows diligence in seeking Him. In return, God will then reward us with answered prayer. Let’s add fasting to our praying and see very stubborn obstacles in our lives move out of the way, finally.
PRAYER
Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, help me to add fasting to my praying. I believe in you and that you are a rewarder of those that diligently seek you. Amen.
