HUMILITY IS THE KEY IN MARRIAGE

But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God – 1 Corinthians 11:3

The Lord Jesus Christ is our Example in every way. In marriage, He’s the Example of both the husband and the wife. As One who’s the Head of the man, He’s the husband’s Example. As One who’s submitted to the Father, He’s the wife’s Example.

Husbands must lead as He does and wives must submit as He does. The Lord Jesus Christ is not a dictatorial tyrant. He’s a Leader under submission. Even though He’s equal with the Father, He’s submitted to Him. Both husband and wife must therefore function in their roles out of humility as He does.

Husbands should therefore lead their wives, but not out of tyranny but rather humility, in submission to Christ. Wives shouldn’t also think that since they’re not inferior to men, they can’t submit to them. Christ is not inferior to the Father and yet He humbled Himself and is submitted to Him.

PRAYER

Father in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I pray for husbands and wives in the Church. May they copy the Humility of the Lord Jesus Christ for them to function successfully in their roles. Amen.
