FAITH LIVES IN TIME WITH ETERNITY IN MIND
You must repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near!
By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going… For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God – Hebrews 11:8,10
Like us today, Father Abraham was looking forward to the heavenly Jerusalem, the City of the Living God. This is the City that will come when the Lord Jesus Christ sets up His Kingdom on the earth upon His Return. Genesis 26:5 says, ‘Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.’ Abraham knew that no one living in disobedience would be allowed into this City, as a result, he obeyed the Commandments of God. Faith lives in Obedience in this world because it doesn’t want to miss out on the World to Come. It’s lives in time with Eternity in mind.
Revelation 22:14 says, ‘Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.’ Only those who obey the Commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ will be allowed through the Gates of the City. Revelation 22:15 says, ‘Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.’ Outside the City, in the Lake of Fire, will be those who disobeyed the Commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Lord has told us that He’s coming back and that He’ll judge the Living and the dead. We shouldn’t just believe that Word, but we must act on it. For us not to face the Judgment of God, we must live in Obedience to the Commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ. Faith without Works is dead. It’s not enough to say you believe. Faith does more than just confess the Word, but it also obeys it. That’s why if you’re living in sin as a Child of God, you’re in gross danger. You have to repent of your sin and do Works in keeping with Repentance. You must repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near!
CONFESSION
Like Father Abraham, I’m looking forward to the City with foundations, Whose Architect is God. As a result, I lay aside every sin that besets because only those living in Obedience will enter
