FAITH AND PRAYER

Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea, it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive – Matthew 21:21-22

The Lord Jesus Christ had just cursed a fig tree and His disciples watched it wither. In explaining His actions, the Lord Jesus Christ teaches them about faith. But what many don’t realise is that He links His faith to curse the fig tree and even to move mountains to prayer.

What He’s saying to them is, before there’s faith to do the impossible there must first be faith in God with whom nothing is impossible. Notice how He didn’t teach them to first meditate on the Word and then confess it for it to come to pass. That’s because intense prayer dissolves fear, doubt and unbelief. During that process, faith in God rises up and you can ask for the impossible, then all things become possible for those who believe because of their faith in the God of the impossible.

Intense prayer is the key to the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ. He prayed first, asking the Father for the impossible, He then went out and all things became possible for Him. That’s why once He even told His disciples that this one comes out only by fasting and praying. We must pray first and only then will we have the faith necessary to curse trees, move mountains and cast out certain devils. Glory to God!

Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I ask for the prayer life of the Lord Jesus Chris so that I may have the miraculous life and ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
