MONEY MONDAY

The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant (slave) to the lender – Proverbs 22:7

Credit is a trap. It ensnares you with words like ‘easy access’ and ‘easy terms’ but once you’re in, it’s anything but easy. When you’re in debt, your lender becomes your master and you become their slave. But before one is a slave to one’s lender, one is first a slave to one’s desires.

The general rule of thumb is: if you can’t pay cash for it, then you can’t afford it. But because of a lack of self-control, most Christians believe they can just splurge out and satisfy their lusts on credit and believe God for debt cancellation later.

To control your debt, you must first control your desires. The reason God hasn’t cancelled your debt is because you have a problem with lust. If He had to cancel it, that’ll just embolden you to get into even more debt. It’s time to reclaim your freedom, ask God to deliver you from lust and give you self-control and only then will live debt-free.

PRAYER

Father in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, help me to escape the snare of debt. Free me from lusts and desires so that I can escape the slavery of debt. Amen.
