DIVORCE AND REMARRIAGE
The Lord Jesus Christ teaches us only to permit divorce when there’s been adultery
FAMILY FRIDAY
But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery – Matthew 5:32
The level of divorce in the Church is as high as that in the world. And for trivial reasons too, such as, we don’t get along, I’m not in love with you any more, I’ve found someone else, or we’re not meant to be together.
But that’s not the Doctrine of Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ teaches us only to permit divorce when there’s been adultery. Other than that, if the other spouse is not a Believer and wants to leave, then we can also permit divorce. Otherwise, the couple must stay together.
If you’re going to divorce when there has been no adultery, you’re not allowed to remarry, otherwise you’re committing adultery. This is the Doctrine of Christ and as His Disciples, we should obey Him. Glory to God!
PRAYER
Father in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, cause the Church to return to the Words of the Lord Jesus Christ. May we build our marriages on the Rock by hearing and doing His Words. Amen.
