MONEY MONDAY

But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented – Luke 16:25

The Lord Jesus Christ loves the poor but takes a dim view of the rich who ignore the suffering of the poor. Luke 6:24 says, ‘But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.’ Those who prioritise money and surround themselves will all kinds of comforts in this life, that’s all the comfort they’ll ever receive, in this life and the one to come. More than that, they’ll be sent to the lake of fire for having ignored the poor in this life.

Those who’re poor in this life are on the receiving end of hardship, mostly because of the rich. In the age to come, there’ll be a divine reversal, like there was in the case of Lazarus who was poor in this life and the rich man who had the wealth of this world. Upon death, the rich man was tormented but Lazarus was comforted.

If you have money in this life, share it with the needy, comfort them and ease their suffering in this life so that you may be comforted in the life to come. If you blow your money on making yourself comfortable in this life and ignore the discomforts of the poor, that’s all the comfort and consolation you’ll ever receive. In the age to come, like the rich man, you’ll be rewarded with torment and suffering at the judgment because you ignored the poor. Stop ignoring the poor. Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.

PRAYER

Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, forgive me for ignoring the poor around me. Help me to ease their suffering and comfort them with what you’ve already blessed me with. Amen.
